San Pedro Belize hotels

Ambergris Caye in San Pedro Belize is the largest of Belize's islands. It is twenty five miles long and is near the Belize's barrier reef. The island is separated from Mexico only by a narrow channel. It was believed that this channel was used by the Mayan civilization for trading and fishing.

This Caye is located east of the Corozal District. The main town of San Pedro is about 36 miles from Belize City. Like Caye Caulker, Ambergris is a limestone coral island. It has cool tropical breezes and is very close from the Barrier Reef. This characteristic has given to the island a raising popularity in the diving community, many shops and hotels are specialized in PADI and Belize scubadiving services.

The main town on Ambergris caye is San Pedro Town. It is around a mile and contains only a few street blocks. Most of the houses are wooden, there aren’t many buildings and the streets are small, therefore it is a very quiet and relaxing place. It is the heart of Ambergris Caye and offers a wide range of restaurants, bars, souvenir shops, and banks, the best Belize adventure vacation. Since the airstrip is also located in town, most resorts and hotels are very close.
