Month by Month Guide – When to go to Belize
January – The start of the year is the perfect time to escape the winter in the Caribbean. In January expect average highs of around 78°F (25°C) and lows of 71°F (21°F) in Belize. Although January is considered high season in Belize, you can expect more travellers but you can also expect sunshine.
February –Crowds have died down a little from the Christmas and New Year rush. Celebrate the month of love in Belize beachside. Kids are back in school and it’s the perfect time to enjoy a couples holiday. Also the end of February is the close of Lobster season in Belize, be sure to get your fix of fresh lobster before then.
March – You’ll experience plenty of sunny days and cool breeze in March . This weather opens the doors to all kinds of outdoor adventures. Days bring calm waters with a light breeze making for some of the best days to snorkel the Belize Barrier Reef.
April – Belize, similar to other Latin American countries, Easter is a big deal. Easter weekend is one of the longest public holidays in country and is an extremely festive and colorful celebration. April is traditionally one of Belize’s warmest and driest months. It’s the perferct time to enjoy the Belize Barrier Reef. Fishing wise migrating tarpon start come onto the reefs and it’s a good month for permit too. For diving, it’s the start of whle shark season with a chance to spot these gentle giants in the South between the months of April, May and June
May – Marks the last month of dry season. Perfect time for foodies! Mark your calendars for the Belize Chocolate Festival celebrated in Punta Gorda, and Cashew Festival celebrated in Crooked Tree. On the island you can continue to enjoy fresh seasfood. From fresh fish to conch. Conch seasons stay open until June.
July – If there’s one thing the Ambergris Caye is known for, it’s Lobster Fest. Every year, July marks the start of the lobster harvesting season for the Caribbean Spiny Lobster. With the opening of the season comes plenty of celebrations with an annual event known as Lobster Fest taking place on the island. August, September and October are the rainiest but you will always find gaps in the clouds and welcoming inns. Considered low season you can experience less crowds and better rates! November and December – The festive months in Belize are one of the busiest times in Belize. November marks the end of rainy season and the weather is just right with the average temperature in Belize around this time is hights of 82° F (27° C). – and lows of 73° F (23° C). There’s never any chance of snow or cold, just long, sunny days to celebratation Christmas fun.
