SunBreeze Suites: A Proud Signatory of the Global Tourism Plastics Initiative

We are thrilled to announce that Sunbreeze Suites is now a proud signatory of the Global Tourism Plastics Initiative. As part of our ongoing efforts to promote sustainability and protect the environment, we have joined this pioneering initiative to reduce plastic waste in the tourism industry.

The Global Tourism Plastics Initiative, led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), aims to unite tourism companies, organizations, and governments worldwide to take concrete measures in combating plastic pollution.

By joining this initiative, we pledge to eliminate unnecessary plastic items from our operations, implement responsible plastic consumption and disposal practices, and work towards alternatives that are more sustainable and less harmful to our planet.

What is the aim of the Global Tourism Plastics Initiative?

The Global Tourism Plastics Initiative requires tourism organisations to make a set of concrete and actionable commitments by 2025:

  • Eliminate problematic or unnecessary plastic packaging and items by 2025;
  • Take action to move from single-use to reuse models or reusable alternatives by 2025;
  • Engage the value chain to move towards 100% of plastic packaging to be reusable, recyclable, or compostable;
  • Take action to increase the amount of recycled content across all plastic packaging and items used;
  • Commit to collaborate and invest to increase the recycling and composting rates for plastics;
  • Report publicly and annually on progress made towards these targets.

At Sunbreeze Suites, we understand the importance of preserving our sea, land, and wildlife for future generations. We are committed to making a positive impact on the environment and being part of the solution to the global plastic waste crisis.

We are excited about this new chapter in our sustainability journey and invite our valued guests to join us in making a difference. Together, we can create a greener and more sustainable future for travel and tourism in Belize.
